Rob Caplin, Chief Musical Officer

Rob has played doublebass with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra for 31 years, 26 years as Principal Bass. A versatile musician, he has also played electric bass in numerous bands since he was a teenager. Rob has played for crowds of over 800,000, performed at the White House, the Super Bowl, the Statue of Liberty, and at venues all over the world. In addition to the Pops, he has played in numerous other orchestras for Peter, Paul, and Mary, Yanni, Itzhak Perlman, Rod Stewart, Yo Yo Ma, the Temptations and Luther Vandross to name a few. With the Pops, Rob has performed with such diverse artists as Henry Mancini, Tony Bennett, Marvin Hamlisch, Natalie Cole, James Taylor, Cyndi Lauper, Big & Rich, Steven Tyler & Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Andrea Bocelli, John Mellencamp, Neil Diamond, Toby Keith, Kenny Loggins and even Big Bird of Sesame Street!

Our world class full time musicians come from the ranks of the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, Berklee College of Music, and Boston recording studios.
